For YEARS we marked December 6th (Saint Nicholas Day) with the German tradition of filled stockings for each of the kids. That had been done in Steve’s family, and I gotta tell you it was a lot of effort and expense (mea culpa—I always went ridiculously overboard). That’s gone by the wayside, but the memories linger…here’s an essay I wrote about those days…

I am not a Hallmark Christmas movie person (I’m sorry to disappoint you. I really have tried to give a hoot about the beautiful CEO who finds unexpected love with the small town lumberjack as the snow gently falls, but….nah, not for me.)
