It Goes Like It Goes (Life, That is)
And what matters are our companions on the journey--thanks for being mine...
THEY SAY IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY…
Happy 74th to my incredible husband! Steve, Stevo, Honey, Dad, Pa—not to mention Captain Hook, Prince Charming and the Cowardly Lion—he answers to them all. I love so many things about him—his humor, his loyalty, his kindness and—his determination. As just one example, Steve has played (or played “at”) guitar for many decades. His repertoire remains small and heavily Kingston Trio-centric, but he keeps practicing, almost every night. We all rejoice when he tackles a new number, because frankly if we hear “Charlie and the MTA” one more time we will collectively lose it. But seriously, he’s working on this beautiful, beautiful song by Jennifer Warnes, “It Goes Like It Goes,” from the score of one of my favorite movies, Norma Rae. Highly recommend both the film and the song…

WEBSITES TO INSPIRE, DELIGHT AND TOUCH THE HEART…
I absolutely love visiting certain sites, and want to share them with you! Here are this week’s picks…
My Modern Met (learned about this one from my friend Karen Naghski) celebrates creativity of all kinds…art, photography, science, nature, technology, and more! I’ve learned so much and enjoyed such quirky topics as “Sea Urchin Wear Shells Like Hats So Aquarists Made Tiny Hats for Them To Wear Instead”. Sea Urchins wearing little cowboy hats? Yes, please!
Humans of New York Begun as a project in 2010, Brandon Stanton set out to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers. Eventually, he began interviewing them, and now HONY presents the unique and amazing stories of the people on the streets of NYC, reminding us that everyone we pass on the street, wherever we are, has a story to share, like this one.
BLOG PREVIEW:
In the mountains of Tennessee last week, there were signs like this:
everywhere. It reminded me of my history with bears, so I’m writing about those big furry guys (on Working Title tomorrow). See you there!
INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“Many people miss out on themselves completely as they journey through life. They know others, they know places, they know skills, they know their work, but tragically, they do not know themselves at all. Aging can be a lovely time of ripening when you actually meet yourself, indeed maybe for the first time.” –John O’Donahue (from Anam Cara)
This week, my friends, let’s spend some time getting to know ourselves better. We’re actually pretty cool, honest (though perhaps not as cool as these guys)…
